Ludlum Measurement’s radiation monitoring systems combine sophisticated multi-channel electronics, multi-lane supervisor PC software, and large, sensitive gamma/neutron detectors to achieve unparalleled sensitivity. Applications include car and truck portals, package and conveyor monitors, also personnel monitors. Over 150 of these systems have been installed and operational 24/7 over the last year.

Sophisticated ratio alarms compensate for a vehicle’s “shadow” effect, allowing for a more sensitive alarm level. Each detector can have its own alarm level, independent fromthe other detectors. Alarms can be individual and/or sum(multi-detector) calculated.

Smaller gamma/neutron detectors are available for package, personnel, and conveyor screening. These systems operate using virtually identicalcomponents from the bigger vehicle portal monitors. Systems can be used with a variety of infrared or inductive loop vehicle sensors, or can operate in “area monitor” mode, where the radiation level is constantly checked for rapid increases. Vehicle portal systems are designed to operate outside, with weatherproof NEMA 4 enclosures and operational temperatures from -40 C to +50 C. |

The systems have passed all CE tests (Type 3) for electrical immunity under EN 61326-1 and EN 61000, and can operate from 85 VAC to 265 VAC, 50-60 Hz, and have an internally charged battery that provides back-up power for approximately 8 hours.
