The Model 193 with Model 44-2 is a low-level gamma survey meter using the Model 44-2 NaI(Tl) scintillation detector.

ALARM: The Model 193 has a dual action alarm.
1. A fixed alarm point can be set at any point from 10% of full scale to full scale, and is indicated by a constant audible tone, and red lamp.
2. An automatic deviation alarm that is based on background radiation levels. When the instrument is turned on, an 8 second measurement of background radiation level is stored, and an alarm is automatically set at 2 sigma above background. If the radiation level exceeds this setting, the alarm audio will beep every 1/8 second, and the lamp will flash.
AUDIO: Built-in unimorph speaker with ON/OFF switch (greater thatn 60 dB at 2 feet)
CALIBRATION CONTROLS: Accessible from front of instrument (protective cover provided)
RESPONSE: Toggle switch for FAST (4 seconds) or SLOW (22 seconds) from 10% to 90% of final reading
RESET: Push button to zero the meter, and also reaccumulate background data and recalculate the alarm setting
POWER: 2 each " D " cell batteries (housed in sealed compartment that is externally accessible)
BATTERY LIFE: Typically 600 hours with alkaline batteries (battery condition can be checked on meter)
METER: 2.5" (6.4cm) arc, 1 mA analog type
